The Hawk Women's Volleyball team captured first place in the 2006 Hunter College Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Old Westbury, who finished 1-2 overall, placed fourth in the six-team event.
Hunter defeated St. Joseph-Patchogue in the championship game, 3-1 (30-27, 21-30, 30-27, 30-26), in a battle of the tournament unbeaten.
St. Joseph-Patchogue took home second place (2-1) followed by Wilkes University (2-1), SUNY Old Westbury, Montclair State (1-2) and Centenary (0-3).
Hawk freshman Amanda Kamm was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for her outstanding efforts. The All-Tournament team was led by St. Joseph-Patchogue's Meaghan Disken, who led the Golden Eagles to a second place finish. Joining Disken on the All-Tournament team were Nicole Hahn (Wilkes), Whitney Alexander (Old Westbury), Samantha Karpinski (Montclair St.) and Jolyn Veres (Centenary).
