PANTHERS CRUISE PAST SARAH LAWRENCE AND SOUTHERN VERMONT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Women's Volleyball team snapped a seven game losing streak with sweeping wins over both Sarah Lawrence (30-22, 30-20, 30-15) and Southern Vermont (30-23, 30-23, 30-23) on Saturday at the Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury improves to 12-23 on the season.
Whitney Alexander (12 kills, 11 digs) and Siobhan West (19 assists, 10 digs) posted double-doubles against Sarah Lawrence to lead the Panthers to victory. Monique Midy and L'oreal Ellington served up a match-high six service aces apiece. On the defensive end, five Panthers produced double-figure numbers in the dig column, led by Lauren Fischetti (14 digs) and Monique Midy (14 digs). Janera Johnson added 11 digs to go along with three blocks. Old Westbury's hitting success steadily increased throughout the match as the Panthers committed just eight errors and added 35 kills, for an attack percentage of .309.
Against Southern Vermont, Siobhan West picked up a double-double, finishing with 10 assists and 12 digs. Monique Midy led the team with nine kills while Whitney Alexander added eight. West and Alexander landed four service aces apiece and L'oreal Ellignton and Sheyra Veras added three. Veras dished out nine assists to go along with five kills and Janera Johnson added five kills. Lauren Fischetti had 12 digs. Old Westbury tallied 34 kills and committed just 11 errors, for an attack percentage of .352.
Old Westbury returns to action on Senior Night, Tuesday, October 30th when they face off against the College of Saint Elizabeth at the Clark Athletic Center. First serve is slated for 7:00 pm.
