EAST MEADOW, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at
Old Westbury men's golf team fired an opening round score of 392 to
sit in fourth place after the first day of competition at the 2009
Skyline Conference Championship at Eisenhower Park - Red
Course. The defending Skyline Conference Champion Farmingdale
State leads the first round with a score of 306.
Two Old Westbury golfers placed in the top-20
individually. Senior Steve Stumper (East Meadow, NY) fired an
88 (+16) for 12th place while classmate Kurt Evans
(Pleasant Valley, NY) grabbed 19th place and carded a 96
(+24).
Rounding out Old Westbury's top five was freshman Matt Lester
(Dix Hills,, NY) who finished tied for 21st place (98,
+26), senior Joe Perry (Hicksville, NY) in 26th place
with a 110 (+38) while junior Joshua Burgos (New York, NY) finished
day one shooting 129 (+57) in 28th place.
The final round of the 2009 Skyline Conference Championship will
be played on Sunday, October 25th. Tee
