Marvin Rosario was named the Skyline Conference's Pitcher of the Week and classmate
Giovanni Jimenez was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Marvin Rosario, the junior college transfer from Nassau Community College, made his Old Westbury debut on opening day against Frostburg State, working two scoreless innings, striking out three with one walk. He picked up the win against No. 18 Cortland State by sitting down four Red Dragons on strikes and allowed just one hit in three innings of relief. In two games, Rosario allowed just three hits in 17 at-bats, holding the opposition to a .176 batting average.
Giovanni Jimenez batted .346 (9-for-26), collecting an RBI in five of six games to start his junior campaign. He stroked four hits against Frostburg State on February 28 (game one) and had two runs batted in against Cortland State.
Old Westbury returns to the diamond on Wednesday afternoon as the Panthers and Kean University Cougars tangle for a non-conference battle at Jim Hynes '63 Stadium.
