Bryan Woodhead has earned his second consecutive Skyline Conference Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week honor, announced Monday by league officials. On the season, Woodhead has tallied three Rookie of the Week awards and tabbed three times to the Weekly Honor Roll.
The Port Jefferson, New York native paced Old Westbury to a 4-0 week. He opened the week with a season-best time of 1:50.59 in the 200 freestyle and a first-place in the 200 freestyle relay against Staten Island. Against Mount Saint Mary and SUNY Delhi, he won the 200 IM in 2:16.29 while assisting in the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay victories. He closed out the week against Purchase by capturing wins in the 100 freestyle (49.02) and 200 freestyle (1:52.05) events in addition to the 200 medley relay victory.
He will be swimming in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay events at the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships.
SKYLINE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP UP NEXT FOR WOODHEAD AND THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Saturday (Feb. 4), in Old Westbury, New York for the Skyline Conference Championship. Race time is set for 12:30 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.
