PANTHER JV BASEBALL TOPPED BY GLOBE

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury JV Baseball team lost a 22-12 decision on Friday evening
at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex to Globe Institute of
Technology. Old Westbury moves to 1-9 on the season.
Panthers at the plate: Anthony Fernandez
(3-for-3) led the Panthers with a trio of triples and stolen bases
in a tough loss to Globe Institute of Technology. Fernandez
scored three runs while Ivan Tineo (2-for-3, RBI, 2 BB) tripled and
later scored one of his two runs on the day. Bill Campbell
(1-for-4, SB) drove in three Panthers and scored two runs as Andrew
Hevia (0-for-2) drove in two runs and scored one. Leonel
Lopez (0-for-1, 3 BB) stole two bases and scored one run while
Chris St. George (1-for-3) singled and later scored.
Panthers on the mound: Bill Campbell suffered
the loss after giving up 11 earned runs (17 runs) on 16 hits over
four innings. Campbell struck out four and walked four before
Joshua Burgos came in for relief work. Burgos pitched five
innings and was charged with three earned runs (5 runs) on 10 hits
while striking out one.
Game notes: Old Westbury was out-hit, 26-8
including 5-1 in the extra base hit department. On the base
path, Old Westbury stranded seven Panthers and stole seven bases as
Globe Institute of Technology left 13 on base and stole one
base. In the field, Old Westbury committed seven errors while
Globe Institute of Technology had three. On the mound, Old
Westbury struck out five and walked four as Globe Institute of
Technology struck out five and handed out 10 free passes.
Old Westbury returns to the diamond on Monday, April
28th on the road at Suffolk Community College.
