GIORDANO LANDS ON ALL-SKYLINE
CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM LIST

CLIFTON PARK, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at
Old Westbury sophomore setter Kristina Giordano (Huntington
Station, NY) was named to the All-Skyline Conference Second Team in
voting conducted amongst the Conference's head coaches.
In the same vote, NYU-Poly's Victoria Kalvert has been named the
2009 Skyline Conference Player of the Year, while teammate Meredith
Shipman was named Tournament MVP. NYU-Poly's Corey Loupee was
tabbed Rookie of the Year and Sage coach Lisa Gallagher was named
Coach of the Year. Additionally, the Sage Gators received the
Team Sportsmanship Award.
Girodano was named Player of the Week twice and received a spot
on the Weekly Honor Roll all the other weeks this season. She
ranked among conference leaders in service aces per set
(2nd - .98), hitting percentage (7th - .244)
and assists per set (7th - 5.36).
The Panthers transformed from a 10-26 record in 2008 to 16-18 in
2009. The 2009 season was filled with ups and downs.
Old Westbury started out the 2009 campaign with a 4-13 record and
bounced back with an 11-match win streak to grab a spot in the
Skyline Conference Championship Tournament for the fifth
consecutive season.
