PURCHASE, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury  men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2009 campaign with the Purchase College Invitational at Purchase College on Saturday afternoon.  The women's team finished sixth while the men's team placed seventh. 

Senior Krystal Garner (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the first Panther to cross the finish line for the Old Westbury women.  Garner checked in with a time of 27:35, placing 25^th overall.  Junior Carissa Ellis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the next Old Westbury runner to finish the course of the Purchase Invitational.  Ellis placed 32^nd with a time of 29:19.

Senior Amy Jackson (Freeport, N.Y.), junior Anna Walters (Williamsville, N.Y.) and senior Avery Josey (Staten Island, N.Y.0 rounded out the top-five finishes for the Panthers, placing 34^th, 35^th and 37^th.  Jackson ran the course in a time of 30:25, while Walters raced clocked in at 34:36 and Josey raced to 35:15.

Junior Nicholous Perdomo (Hempstead, N.Y.) earned the top-finish for the Old Westbury men.  Perdomo placed 36^th overall, completing the course in a time of 40:37.  Junior Rudy Lys (White Plains ,N.Y.0 clocked in at 43:25, placing 40^th and sophomore Josh Wooten (Jamaica, N.Y.) placed 41^st, arriving across the finish line at 45:03.
