MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RACE TO 11th PLACE FINISH AT YORK INVITATIONAL, WOMEN PLACE 12th

BRONX, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's cross country team placed 11th while the women's squad finished 12th in the York Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on a rainy Sunday morning.

Freshman Jeff Barrett (Brooklyn, NY) led the Panthers across the line, finishing 32nd overall in a time of 35:33.  Sophomore Josh Wooten (Jamaica, NY) was second, placing 53rd in a time of 38:04.

Senior Hakiem George (New York, NY), freshman TaQuan Gray (Yonkers, NY) and junior Ronald Ott (Garden City Park, NY) rounded out the top five for Old Westbury.  Queens' freshman Maxwell Gazzara (Flushing, NY) won the 8k with a 30:08.

On the women's side, senior Krystal Garner (Staten Island, NY) finished 31st overall in a 6k time of 31:53.  Sophomore Angela Dixon (Bronx, NY) placed 68th *36:14) followed by freshman Melissa Spleen (Hempstead, NY), junior Anna Walters (Buffalo, NY) and senior Avery Josey (Staten Island, NY) finishing 84th, 86th and 89th, respectively.  Queens' Amber Sayer (Amherst, MA) placed first in the 6K, clocking in at 24:33. 

Queens College won both the men's and women's races.

The men's and women's cross country team will next run at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational.  The event will be held at Chadwick State Park in Newburgh, New York on Saturday, October 3rd.  Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on men's and women's cross country or any of the other Panther athletic teams
