PANTHER JV BASEBALL TOPPED BY SUFFOLK

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury JV Baseball team lost a 14-4 decision at the Jackie
Robinson Athletic Complex to Suffolk Community College-Ammerman on
Tuesday evening. Old Westbury drops to 1-8 overall while
Suffolk-Ammerman improves to 25-9-1.
Panthers at the plate: Chris St. George
(2-for-4, SB) was the lone Panther to register multiple hits.
St. George clubbed a triple to go along with a single before
scoring two runs. Anthony Fernandez (1-for-4, 2 SB),
Christian Martinez (0-for-3, 2 SB) each scored one run while
Martinez drove in one. Ivan Tineo (1-for-3, SB) and Matt
Kelly (1-for-3) each drove in one run.
Panthers on the mound: Joshua Burgos suffered
the loss after pitching five and two third innings. Burgos
gave up three earned runs (7 runs) on 11 hits to go with two
strikeouts and two walks. Jake Tauber came in for two thirds
of an inning of relief work and surrendered five runs (1 earned) on
six hits. Jorge Hiraldo closed out the final two and two
third innings of which he gave up one earned run (2 runs) on three
hits. Hiraldo struck out five and walked two.
Game notes: Old Westbury was out-hit 20-5,
including 6-1 in the extra base hit department. On the base
path, Old Westbury stranded eight Panthers and stole six bases
while Suffolk-Ammerman left 13 on base and stole three bases.
In the field, Old Westbury had three errors and Suffolk-Ammerman
had one. On the mound, Old Westbury struck out seven and
walked four as Suffolk-Ammerman had nine strikeouts and walked
six.
Old Westbury returns to the diamond on Friday, April
25th to host Genessee Community College. First
