QUICK STRIKE OFFENSE COMBINES WITH DeNOYER SAVES TO GIVE PANTHERS 2-0 WIN OVER MARITIME

OCTOBER 24, 2007

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Men's Soccer team received two goals from Justin Leakey while goalkeeper Brandon DeNoyer stopped 14 shots to move the Panthers into first place in the Skyline Conference standings with a 2-0 win over Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Panther Park.

Maritime took it to the Panthers right from the starting whistle; however DeNoyer was up to the task, making one stop and corralling several other crosses.  Finally in the 57th minute, Justin Leakey received a pass from Sandro Chiarlitti and dribbled around and buried it into the back of the net to break open a scoreless tie.  Old Westbury fought through a feisty Maritime defense in the 62nd minute when Shawn Holland beat his defender to set up Leakey for his second score of the game.

With the win, Old Westbury takes over the lead in the Skyline Conference standings, at least for a few days.  Old Westbury returns to action on the road at Farmingdale State for a season finale on Saturday, October 27th.  Start time is slated for 1:00 p.m.  For more information about the Old Westbury Panthers, or to follow your favorite Panther sports and events, log onto http://www.oldwestburypanthers.com/.
