N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury
Men's Soccer team defeated Medgar Evers, 4-1, at the Mount saint
Mary College Invitational. Old Westbury notched their first
win of the season and are now 1-1, while Medgar Ever remains
winless at 0-3.
Old Westbury's Alex Renwart netted the games first goal when he
connected on a penalty kick at the 4:05 mark. Old Westbury
struck again, this time coming from John Senatore who landed his
first goal of the game at the 27:06 mark with the helper coming
from Fabian Santibanez and Brandon DeNoyer. It wasn't until
35:14, when Renwart dished out an assist to Senatore to give the
Panthers a 3-0 lead heading into the half. Fabian Santibanez
added an insurance goal at 53:51 off a break away, beating the
goalie to the far post to give Old Westbury a 4-0 lead. Later
in the second half, Medgar Evers posted their lone goal of the game
when Kerry Celestine received a pass from Acnil Porter-Lee and Sean
Lewis to beat goalie Divine Jackson.
Despite claiming the 4-1 victory, Old Westbury was out shot by
Medgar Evers by one, 14-13. However, the Panthers edged out
Medgar Evers with a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Both teams
recorded 4 saves apiece.
Old Westbury returns to action on Sunday, September
9th, as they take on York College at the Mount Saint
Mary College Invitational on Day two at 12:00 pm. For more
