Boxscore

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team fell 4-0 on the road to non-conference opponent, Staten Island College on Wednesday evening.  Old Westbury now sits at 4-8 on the season with the set back while Staten Island improves to 5-7 overall.

Staten Island received goals from four different Dolphins en route to a 4-0 win over Old Westbury.  The Dolphins controlled most of the possessions and outshot the visiting Panthers, 25-5 and a 10-2 corner kick advantage.

With the possession favoring the home side, Staten Island took the lead 24 minutes in as Kelly Kenny gathered a rebound by Jennifer Griffin and sent a laser from point blank into the top right net beyond the outstretched arms of sophomore goalkeeper Deborah Ciccarelli (St. James, N.Y.) for the score.  Staten Island doubled their advantage when Fiosa Begai received a lead in pass from teammate Michele Kelly that deflected off Ciccarelli's hands into the top left post for the score at the 51:06 mark.  Despite Old Westbury's best efforts, Jennifer Griffin tacked on her second assist of the match in the 66th minute when she sent a cross to the far right side to find Meaghan Suppa who scored the third goal for the Dolphins.  Staten Island capped off the scoring when Trina Chechel netted a header that just tucked inside the post off a corner kick by Kelly Kenny in the 69th minute.

Ciccarelli finished with seven saves for Old Westbury,, while Tina Bellocchio and Kelly Kenny made two stops each to earn the shutout for Staten Island.  Junior Courtney Dixon (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Panthers with two shots, while freshman Cassandra Esposito (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Keisha Carter (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added one apiece.

The Green and Ivory will return to action on Tuesday, October 21st against CCNY at Panther Park.  Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.  Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on women's soccer or any of the other Panther athletic teams.
