UNION, N.J.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury
women's volleyball team wrapped up their weekend at the Kean
Invitational with a 1-3 record after colliding with host Kean
University and then St. Joseph's College-L.I. on Saturday afternoon
at the Harwood Arena. Old Westbury (2-11) fell to Kean
University in a tightly-contested three-set match 3-0 (25-19,
25-20, 25-18) before St. Joseph's College-L.I. handed the Panthers
their third loss of the tournament, falling in three sets (25-16,
25-7, 25-11) to their conference rival.
Debra DePalma (New Windsor, N.Y.) recorded team-highs in both
assists (8) and digs (7) as the Panthers fell to Kean
University. Freshman Tonya Miller (Nyack, N.Y.) led the
Panthers with five kills while classmate Tynisha George (Medford,
N.Y.) tallied six digs. Sophomore Siobhan West (Flushing,
N.Y.) chipped in with four digs and four assists as junior Jessica Pozo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered four digs. Junior L'oreal Ellington (East Moriches, N.Y.) served up a team-high two
aces.
Jessica Pozo led Old Westbury with six digs and five kills at
the same time as Debra DePalma recorded six digs and five assists
against St. Joseph's College-L.I. Siobhan West added
team-highs six assists and three aces. Tonya Miller had six
digs and L'oreal Ellington contributed three kills and one
ace.
The Green and Ivory return to action on Wednesday, September
17th, when the travel to Sarah Lawrence College for a
non-conference matchup. First serve is slated for 7:00
