WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALL SHORT IN FIVE SET LOSS TO
MANHATTANVILLE

PURCHASE, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury
women's volleyball team's late rally fell short in the fifth set as
Manhattanville College escaped with a 15-12 deciding set over the
Panthers on Wednesday evening on the road at the Kennedy
Gymnasium. The 2-3 (18-25, 25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 12-15) loss
drops Old Westbury to 3-15 on the season, while Manhattanville
College improves to 4-8.
Sophomore Siobhan West shined brightest as she posted a
double-double to lead the offense with 25 assists while freshman
Debra DePalma (New Windsor, N.Y.) dished out eight assists and
served up three aces. Old Westbury's defense was keyed by
freshman Serena McGrath (Montgomery, N.Y.) with a team best 22 digs
followed by DePalma, West and senior Danielle DeVaul (Binghamton,
N.Y.), who each had 16, 15 and 13, respectively. Freshman
Tynisha George (Medford, N.Y.) sparked the offense with nine kills
and three aces in addition to 14 digs. Junior L'oreal Ellington (East Moriches, N.Y.) registered nine kills while senior
Colleen Smith (Copiague, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills and two
aces.
The Green and Ivory return to action on Saturday, September
27th to battle on the road with non-conference opponent
