OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at
Old Westbury men's soccer team was unable to keep pace with the
Maritime Privateers, falling 3-1 in a Skyline Conference battle on
Wednesday evening at Panther Park. The loss moves Old
Westbury to 7-6-1 overall and 3-2 in league play while Maritime
improves to 8-5-1 and 2-3-1, respectively.
Sophomore John Blunden (Arlington, VA) put Maritime on the board
first at the 38:23 mark to grab an early lead. Down a goal,
the Panthers headed into half-time with a 9-5 edge in shot
attempts.
They finally got on the board at 48:45 when Old Westbury's
sophomore German Parodis (Mar del Plata, Argentina) tied the game
off an assist from senior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, NY).
Parodis' goal was his first of the season, while Santibanez leads
the team with eight assists.
Sophomore Jason Tursi (Farmingdale, NY) put Maritime ahead for
good with the eventual game-winner at 68:19 when he settled a pass
from junior Erik Mittermeier (Pomona, NY) to double the advantage,
2-1. Sophomore Cesur Alagoz (Istanbul, Turkey) added the
insurance score for Maritime at 85:14.
Old Westbury held the advantage in shot attempts, 22-13 and a
7-5 margin in corners. Sophomore William Montenegro
(Brentwood, NY) recorded five saves in between the pipes for Old
Westbury and junior Harris Papson (Flushing, NY) had nine stops for
the Privateers.

battle on Saturday, October 17th at Panther Park.
