PANTHERS SCORE DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN OVER CCNY

Old Westbury at CCNY Boxscore

MASPETH, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - Senior Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) scored her first goal as a member of the SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team in thrilling fashion on Tuesday evening, leading the Panthers to a 1-0 double overtime win over CCNY on the road in non-conference action at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.   The Panthers now stand at 8-7-2 on the season while the loss moves the Beavers to 4-9-2.

After playing an entire 100 minutes of soccer, Old Westbury needed just four more minute to net the game-winner.  LaMaida scored after scrambling for the ball off a corner kick in the top of the box and knocked it home past CCNY senior keeper Kate Malytska (Brooklyn, NY) for the game-winner.

Old Westbury was able to hold the CCNY attack in the opening half to head to the locker room in a scoreless tie, holding a 13-6 advantage in shots.  The Panthers continued to stifle CCNY in the second half and were able to apply a little bit more pressure.  Old Westbury held a 13-2 advantage on shots in the second 45 minutes.  Able to contain the Beavers for 90 minutes, the Panthers headed into what proved to be a thrilling final 14 minutes of contest.  The Panthers outshot CCNY 30-10 for the game, holding the Beavers scoreless for the fourth time this season.

The shutout is the seventh for Old Westbury this season and the fifth for sophomore goal keeper Jennifer Kuper (Bellmore, NY).  Kupfer made five stops in 104 minutes while Kate Malytska had 16 saves in a losing effort for CCNY.
