Old Westbury at St. Joseph's-L.I. Boxscore
CORAM, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – St. Joseph's-L.I.'s senior Adam Rogers (Hauppague, NY) netted the game-winner as the SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Sunday evening at Diamond in the Pines in Corman, New York for the Skyline Conference Championship game. With the loss, Old Westbury slips to 12-9-1 on the year while St. Joseph's-L.I. improves to 13-8.
Rogers game-winner came at the 80:03 mark. Freshman Doug Kane (Coram, NY) hit a cross to Rogers, who was sprinting towards the goal, redirected the ball past a diving junior Darian Bryan (Elmont, NY) and into the back of the net.
Senior Edwin Mejia (Uniondale, NY) put Old Westbury on the board first at 26:45. Mejia settled a rebound off a shot from classmate Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, NY) and chipped the ball past St. Joseph's-L.I. senior keeper Michael Doughtery (Farmingville, NY), giving Old Westbury a 1-0 edge into halftime. Junior Stephan Zaech (Farmingville, NY) answered for the Eagles at the 54:18 mark, scoring off a deflection past a diving Bryan to knot the game at 1-1.
Darian Bryan finished with five saves for Old Westbury while Michael Dougherty had six stops for the Eagles. St. Joseph's-L.I. out-shot Old Westbury by a 13-11 count, and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
