OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury men's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Lesley University
in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Panther Park in
Old Westbury. The victory moves Old Westbury to 3-4 on the season
while Lesley slips to 4-2-1.
Senior Scott Wheeler (East Hampton, MA) opened the scoring for
the match in the 29th minute off a pass by senior Zach
Rocha (New Bedford, MA) for his second goal of the season.
Senior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) responded with his
eight goal of the season at the 35:53 mark to put Old Westbury on
the board, knotting the game at 1-1 off a pass by freshman Mathais
Coni (Oceanside, N.Y.) and junior Roland White (Baldwin,
N.Y.). The Panthers grabbed the lead at the 67:50 mark when
Coni hooked up with senior Edwin Mejia (Uniondale, N.Y.) to give
Old Westbury a 2-1 lead. Coni registered two assists on the
day to give him a team-leading five assists.
Lesley outshot Old Westbury, 8-6, in the first half, but the
Panthers ended the game with a 17-13 shot advantage. Junior
Darian Bryan (Elmont, N.Y.) made five saves on the game for the
Panthers while junior Zach Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, MA) tallied six
for the Lynx in a losing effort.

Westbury travels to Farmingdale State on Thursday, Sept. 24 for a
