FARMINGDALE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - Freshman Donny Alerte (Brooklyn, NY) goal at the 99:10 mark lifted the SUNY
College at Old Westbury past Farmingdale State, 2-1, Thursday
afternoon in Farmingdale. The win moves Old Westbury to 5-4
on the season and 1-0 in Skyline Conference action while
Farmingdale State slips to 2-4-1 and 1-1.
With a scoreless match for over 78 minutes, freshman Joe
Brantmeyer (Center Moriches, NY) put Farmingdale State on the board
first, chipping a shot past Old Westbury junior goalkeeper Darian Bryan (Elmont, NY) at the 78:03 mark.
After falling behind late, the Panthers responded with a Donny Alerte goal in the 81st minute to tie the game off a
pass by senior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, NY) and finally broke
through the Ram defense when senior Conor McKeon (Rockville Centre,
NY) found Alerte for the game winner at 99:10 in the first
overtime.
Darian Bryan made eight stops in net for the Panthers and
allowed one goal while senior Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, NY)
halted seven four shots for the Rams. Farmingdale State
outshot the Panthers by a 17-16 margin in addition to a 7-2
advantage in the corner.
