(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team hosted the Yeshiva Maccabees (3-8, 1-6 Skyline) and Kean Cougars (16-13) for a tri-match Sunday at the Clark Athletic Center. OW improved to 4-1 in conference play after sweeping Yeshiva in the opener 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-6) before falling to Kean in four sets, 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25). Old Westbury now stands at 17-7 on the season and 9-2 at home. 

In the opening match against Yeshiva, setter Kristina Giordano appeared in two sets and finished with 17 assists, four aces and five digs in the win for the Panthers, while Tanaya Vinson slammed home seven kills. Kimberly Catania (5-assists) and Nancy Barahona (4-assists) assisted OW's distribution efforts. Catania and classmate Samantha Howley both scooped out seven digs apiece. Ashley Greene chipped in with six digs and six kills followed by Tynisha George, who had five kills and Carlotta Pope added four. Yeshiva was led by Navah Spero's seven kills and Ashley Ansel's eight assists.

In Old Westbury's match against Kean, Kristina Giordano tallied 26 assists, 17 digs, five kills and three aces to notch her ninth double-double of the season to pace the Panthers. Defensively, #Kimberly Catania3 registered a career-best 22 dig effort to go along with five assists, and a pair of aces, blocks and kills. Tonya Miller posted six kills and swatted three blocks to go with three blocking assists (match-high). Ashley Greene and Tynisha George pounded down ten and nine kills, respectively. Nicole Bolash added 15 kills and nine digs and Colleen Masterson tallied 27 assists for the Cougars.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury will take the court next on Tuesday (Oct. 19) for a Skyline Conference road match with the Maritime Privateers. Panthers and Privateers are slated to start at 7 p.m. in Throggs Neck, New York.
