MEN’S SOCCER WINS DOUBLE OVERTIME CONFERENCE THRILLER

German Parodis scored the gamewinner in the 104th minute

Box Score OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury and the Sage Gators played 104 scoreless minutes until German Parodis netted the gamewinner to lift the Panthers to victory. OW (8-4) improved to a 4-1 Skyline Conference record while Sage (3-5-1) fell to 2-1-1.

After edging the Gators in shots and shots on goal for the sixth time this season, the Panthers were unable to break through Sage goalkeeper Carmen Volpe for the majority of the game. Old Westbury outshot Sage 14-12 and 6-4 in shots on goal.

In the second overtime period, German Parodis lined up for a free kick that rattled off the right post and deflected into the back of the net. Parodis' goal was the first of the season.

Pablo Diaz made four saves in goal for OW for his first career shutout, riding his record to 5-0 on the season. Sage keeper Carmen Volpe made five stops in a losing effort for the Gators.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 2), taking on the Maritime Privateers in Throggs Neck, New York. Panthers and Privateers kick-off at 7 p.m.
