(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team downed Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State Thursday evening on the road at Walter A. Lynch Sports Center to complete the season sweep over the Rams. OW took the match in three sets, 25-22, 30-28, 25-19. The win is the second in a row for the Panthers and improves them to 19-7 on the season and 6-1 in conference action while the Rams drop to 9-7 and 5-2, respectively. 

The Panthers had eight players contribute a dig tonight, led by junior Tynisha George and sophomore Nancy Apollono, who scooped up nine apiece. Tonya Miller led the defense, tying a season-high with five solo blocks and one block assist. 

Ashley Greene had an impressive evening, landing 10 kills on 22 swings, while committing one error for a team-best .409 attacking percentage, while Tynisha George and Tonya Miller followed with nine and eight kills, respectively. Kristina Giordano dished out 22 assists, while Kimberly Catania added five. Kimberly Catania sparked the offense, earning a match-high three aces and Nancy Apollonio added two as OW out-served the Rams, 9-6. 

Holly Sahner posted a double-double to lead Farmingdale State, combining a match-high 11 kills and 15 digs to pace the Rams. Jessica Zimmerman chipped in with 11 digs and Lindsey Fisher added 23 assists (match-high). 

As a team, Old Westbury outhit Farmingdale State, landing 33 kills as compared to the Rams' 32, while the Panthers collected 43 digs and Farmingdale State had 38. The Panthers also struck at a .211 clip, while the OW defensive attack held Farmingdale State to a .171 attacking percentage. 

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT AND MOUNT SAINT MARY UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 23) for a Skyline Conference tri-match at Mount Saint Mary. Panthers will open with the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at 1 p.m. and will close against the Mount Saint Mary Knights at 3 p.m. in Newburgh, New York.
