WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES TO SAGE, 3-0

Panthers return to action Wednesday (Oct. 27) at Staten Island in regular season finale

ALBANY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road to the Sage Gators in both teams regular season Skyline Conference finale Sunday at the Albany Academy for Girls. OW fell to 11-7 on the season and 7-3 against the Skyline Conference while Sage improved to 8-6 and 6-4, respectively.

The Gators scored in the 23rd minute on goal by Nicole Kilen to grab a quick 1-0 lead. Sage doubled their advantage in 50;05 when Rebecca Marszalek put her 13th goal of the season past OW keeper Jennifer Kupfer. The Gators put the game away at 60:47 when Rebecca Marszalek struck again when she flicked the ball into the goal for 3-0 Sage lead.

The Panthers out-shot Sage 21-8 and both teams each had four corner kicks. Joanna Kettell led  OW's offensive efforts with four shots.  Brittany McDonald made 10 saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. Jennifer Kupfer suffered the loss after allowing two goals in 53:49 minutes while making two saves before Stephanie Zornberg closed out the final 36:11 in goal for Old Westbury.

STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 27) for a non-conference regular season finale on the road against the Staten Island Dolphins. Panthers and Dolphins kick-off at 4 p.m. in Staten Island, New York.
