www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team won its second consecutive overtime match Sunday at Panther Park as OW defeated the King's (Pa.) Monarchs, 3-2 in double overtime. OW improved to 3-4 on the year with the victory as King's slipped to 1-7.
Old Westbury took their first lead of the game and grabbed the victory when freshman
Kelsey Durkot scored her second career goal in the 114th minute of play to lead the Panthers off a feed by
Joanna Kettell.
Both teams scored early as Jade Zuniga's goal just 46 seconds into the match from Becky Chateauneuf put the Monarchs ahead, 1-0. OW's
Cassandra Esposito answered back at the 2:39 mark with her team-leading third goal of the season off an assist by
Jarelis Torres, her first of the season. Becky Chateauneuf scored in the 32nd minute to send King's into the half with a 2-1 lead.
Joanna Kettell netted her first career-goal at 63:54 to knot the game at 2-2 when classmate
Samantha Clancy found her for her first career assist.
Chynna Pitlock was solid between the pipes, stopping 11 shots to grab the victory while her counterpart, Danielle Johnson, suffered the loss after surrendering three goals with four saves.
Both teams drew even in the shooting department at 20 apiece while King's held a 13-7 shots on target advantage and 10-5 in corner kicks.
MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Wednesday, September 22 for a Skyline Conference battle at Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York. Panthers and Dolphins are slated for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
