Box Score PURCHASE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Wesbtury women's soccer team used a pair of goals by junior Cassandra Esposito to give the Panthers a 2-0 win at Skyline Conference foe, Mount Saint Vincent, Wednesday evening in Purchase, New York. OW (4-4 Overall, 2-0 Skyline) remains unbeaten in conference play while the Dolphins (1-5) slip to 0-2 against the Skyline Conference.
The match started slowly with both teams battling to a scoreless opening half, despite OW outshooting the Dolphins, 9-1. The first score of the match came at the 58:31 mark when Esposito scored on an unassisted goal to give OW the 1-0 advantage. Esposito added her second goal less than five minutes later when Kelsey Durkot found her at 63:23 sent a blast that was deflected in by MSV keeper Kara McNish, which closed out the scoring.
OW goalie Chynna Pitlock earned the one save shutout after spending 90 minutes between the pipes. MSV keeper Kara McNish made 10 stops and allowed both Panther goals. Old Westbury outshot Mount Saint Vincent, 21-2 for the match including a 12-1 shot on target advantage.
ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday, September 25 for a Skyline Conference battle at St. Joseph's-L.I. Panthers and Golden Eagles are slated for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
