WOMEN’S SOCCER HANDED 3-0 SHUTOUT AT ST. JOSEPH’S-L.I.

Panthers three game win streak snapped by Golden Eagles on Saturday

(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team were handed their second shutout of the season with a 3-0 loss at Skyline Conference foe, St. Joseph's-L.I. Saturday afternoon at Diamond in the Pines. OW moves to 4-5 overall and 2-1 against the Skyline Conference while the Golden Eagles improve to 6-5-1 and 3-0, respectively.

The Golden Eagles first got on the scoreboard in the 25th minute when an unassisted goal off a rebound was scored by Samantha Garcia. St. Joseph's-L.I. took a 1-0 lead into the half and drew even in shots, 5-5.

Erin Beach found the back of the net off a cross from Kristen McLoughlin to put St. Joseph's-L.I. up by two goals at the 51:56 minute mark. Beach struck again for SJC-L.I.'s third and final goal of the match to cap off the scoring at 66:47 off a feed by Ashley Demeo.

The Panthers finished with seven shots on goal to the Golden Eagles' nine while SJC.L.I. held a 13-10 advantage in shots. Both teams drew even in corner kicks at one apiece.

OW keeper Chynna Pitlock was tagged with the loss after making six stops in goal. Michelle Gulino picked up the victory for the Golden Eagles with seven saves.

SAGE GATORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday, October 2 for a Skyline Conference battle at Sage. Panthers and Gators are slated for a 4 p.m. kick-off in Troy, New York.
