www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team scored in the 50th minute for a 1-0 Skyline Conference win at home Saturday afternoon against the Sage Gators. The win improves Old Westbury (7-5) to 5-1 in conference action, while the loss dropped Sage (5-7) to 4-5.
The Panthers came out aggressive in the second-half, with freshman
Stephanie Maybie rattling the back of the net on a shot inside the box past Sage goalie Chelsea Martin at the 49:14 mark. The goal was Maybie's team-leading fourth game-winner of the season.
Caitlin Thomas registered her fourth shutout of the season for Old Westbury, making one save, just 7:05 into the match. Sage's Grace Collett played a scoreless first-half in goal, stopping six shots, before Chelsea Martin tallied five save and allowed the lone goal in the second half.
The Panthers had a 12-2 shot advantage at halftime. The second half witnessed the anther continue to control possession, the Old Westbury holding a final shot count of 27-3, including 12-1 edge on target.
Stephanie Maybie totaled eight shots, including three on goal to pace OW. Old Westbury also controlled the corner, finishing 6-2 in corner kicks.
