Old Westbury allows own-goal to decide Skyline Conference showdown

OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Sage Gators in a Skyline Conference road match on Sunday in Albany, New York.  The Panthers (4-10-1) fell to 3-4-1 in conference action, while the Gators (9-6-1) improved to 5-3.
 
The first tally of the game came in the 24th minute when Sage's Wesley Finch scored his 10th goal of the season.  Finch's goal came in unassisted fashion.  Tana Weekes evened the game at 1-1 just over six minutes later as German Parodis assisted on Weekes' third goal of the season.

The match wasn't decided until the 55:28 mark when the Old Westbury defense knocked in an own-goal, and the goal turned out to be the game winner. 

Pablo Diaz made two saves in defeat for Old Westbury, while Trevor Paddy stopped four shots in goal for Sage.  In total, Sage outshot Old Westbury, 12-7, as Old Westbury held a 5-4 edge in shots on target.  Sage also finished with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a Skyline Conference battle on the road, taking on the Farmingdale State Rams on Thursday (Oct. 20) in Farmingdale, New York. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. on the campus of Farmingdale State College.
