FARMINGDALE STATE, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team defeated Farmingdale State, 1-0, Thursday afternoon in a Skyline Conference battle in Farmingdale, New York. The Panthers (5-10-1) improved to 5-3-1 in conference action with the win, while Farmingdale State (4-11) fell to 3-5.
An evenly played first half reflected the halftime statistics in a tied match as Farmingdale State had nine shots to seven for Old Westbury.
The Panthers would tally the lone goal of the game in the 68th minute. Sophomore
Scott Carey rattled the net for an unassisted goal, his third of the season. The goal was his second game winner of the season.
Pablo Diaz earned his fourth shutout of the season, making three saves on the day for Old Westbury. Farmingdale State's Michael Valverde made six save in defeat.
Bryan Bolivar and
Tana Weekes each had three shots to lead the Panther offense to a 14-12 advantage in shots, including a 7-3 on target. Farmingdale State held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a Skyline Conference battle on the road, taking on the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Saturday (Oct. 22) in Yonkers, New York. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. from Tibbetts Brook Park.
