WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS 9-0 OVER MOUNT SAINT VINCENT

JoAnna Kettell (2 goals, 2 assist), Stephanie Maybie (2 goals) and Caitlin Thomas (2 saves) lead Panthers to conference win; "Senior Game" on Tuesday (Oct. 25) up next for Panthers

(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team hosted the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins for the second annual “Score for the Cure” Breast Cancer Awareness Match Saturday from Panther Park.  Old Westbury's JoAnna Kettell and Stephanie Maybie scored multiple goals as the Panthers proved too much for the Dolphins in a 9-0 Skyline Conference victory.  OW (8-6) improves to 6-1 in conference play while Mount Saint Vincent (3-10-1) fell to 1-6-1.

Prior to the match, Old Westbury and Mount Saint Vincent players along with fans participated in a breast cancer awareness walk around Panther Park.  Breast Cancer survivors were announced and joined both teams for the national anthem.  

With just 52 seconds gone from the clock, Jordan Schildt rattled the back of net for her fourth goal of the season (1st game-winner), assisted by Jennifer KupferSamantha Clancy doubled the OW advantage when she netted her fifth goal of the season as Cassandra Esposito registered her sixth assist.  Old Westbury held a 2-0 lead including a 12-1 shot advantage to close out the first half. 

JoAnna Kettell extended OW's lead to three goals as she scored her seventh goal off the season of Marissa Guide's first-career assist in the 50th minute.  Stephanie Maybie scored back to back goals within 1:39, netting her sixth (63:06) and seventh goals (64:45) of the season, assisted by Jordan Schildt and JoAnna Kettell, respectively.  Samantha Clancy and JoAnna Kettell each netted their second multi –goal game of the season in the 66th and 77th minutes, respectively.  Cristina Kettell assisted on JoAnna Kettell's goal, her second helper of the season.  Jennifer Kupfer added to OW's lead in the 85th minute with her first goal of the game off JoAnna Kettell's fifth assist.  Allison Pirone also contributed to Old Westbury's scoring, tallying her first career goal in the 89th minute. 

Caitlin Thomas registered her fifth shutout of the season for Old Westbury, making two saves in net for Old Westbury.  Mount Saint Vincent's Kara McNish made 11 stops in defeat. 

The second half witnessed the anther continue to control possession, with Old Westbury holding a final shot count of 38-2.  Stephanie Maybie totaled seven shots and JoAnna Kettell had six to pace OW.  Old Westbury also controlled the corner, finishing 8-0 in corner kicks.              

“SENIOR GAME” VERSUS YORK CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle at home, taking on the York Cardinals on Tuesday (Oct. 25) in Old Westbury, New York. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex (Baseball Field). 

Prior to kick-off, seniors Cassandra Esposito and Jennifer Kupfer will be honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics.
