www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –– – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell 3-1 (18-25, 25-17. 22-25, 14-25) at home Thursday evening to the Hunter Hawks in Old Westbury, New York. The Panthers fell to 13-8 on the season while Hunter improved to 10-6.
The offense was paced by
Tynisha George, who finished with 10 kills for the third consecutive match and her seventh double-digit kill match of the season.
Ashley Greene followed with nine kills and hit .348 for the match.
Kristina Giordano dished out 28 assists.
Kimberly Catania and
Shakira Canty scooped up double-digit digs, finishing with 17 and 10, respectively.
Ruth Vargas chipped in with three blocks.
Hunter's Christine Luebcke was unstoppable, posting 16 kills with a .424 hitting percentage. Katina Boutis directed the offense with 25 assists.
Hunter finished with 43 kills, a .172 hitting percentage, 15 service aces and 6.5 blocks. Meanwhile, Old Westbury earned 39 kills, a .198 hitting percentage, four service aces and four blocks. The Panthers did pick up 51 defensive digs, while the Hawks collected 27 digs during the match.
SKYLINE CONFERENCE QUAD-MATCH UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a Skyline Conference quad-match at home against the Sage Gators and Mount Saint Mary Knights on Saturday (Oct. 8) in Old Westbury, New York. Old Westbury opens with Sage at 12 p.m. followed by Mount Saint Mary at 2 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.
