OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team rolled to an 88-68 victory over the Sage Gators in a Skyline Conference matchup Saturday from the Clark Athletic Center in Old Westbury, New York.  With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play while sending Sage to 3-3 and 1-1, respectively. 

The Panthers dominated the contest from start to finish, with the exception of a 27-second clip with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening half when Sage held a 20-18 advantage.  Old Westbury responded with 17-3 run over the final 7:15 to take a 37-23 lead into the locker room. 

Old Westbury also held the scoring advantage in the second half, outscoring the visiting Gators 51-45.  The largest lead of the game for Old Westbury came off a layup from Jamal Little with eight seconds left to put OW ahead by 20, 88-68.  

Tavon McNair poured in a career-high 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor to go along with 11 rebounds to pace OW.  Jamal Little connected on 10-of-15 from the field to register 25 points while Kerel Mitchell followed with 12.  Rob Sanders pulled down 11 boards to go with seven points and four assists.  Dayshawn Long added a game-high five assists. 

Ian Austin-Michaud led the Gators with 23 points and 12 rebounds.  Jeff Stopera and Dalton Austin Michaud followed with 12 points each. 

OW shot 45.6 percent (31-68) from the field and hit 21-of-28 free-throw attempts.  Sage connected on 35.7 percent (25-70) from the field and 17-of-26 from the line.  The Panthers scored 15 points off of turnovers, forcing 18 turnovers.  Both teams grabbed 38 rebounds, with Sage holding an 18-13 advantage off the offensive glass, resulting in 18 second chance points.  

FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood on Wednesday (Dec. 7) when they take on the Farmingdale State Rams in Farmingdale, New York.  Game time is set to tip at 8 p.m. on the campus of Farmingdale State College.
