FLEMINGTON, NJ (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team used a pair of strong pitching performances on the afternoon to sweep a doubleheader from the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on Sunday from Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey. OW won the opening contest 4-1 and followed with a 4-0 shutout in game two. With the pair of victories, OW improved to 3-4 on the season while Cobleskill moved to 0-4.
In the opener, Cobleskill jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the second inning when Jeremy Warner drew a bases loaded walk to score Danny O'Brien. Cobleskill's lead was short-lived as Old Westbury countered in the third to knot the game at one.
Joseph Guido singled and scored during the next at-bat with an error by Cobleskill first baseman Danny O'Brien. Three more Panther runs were scored in the sixth inning.
Benjamin Farias doubled home
Anthony Orsano and
Josef Schaetzle for the go ahead runs as OW went up 3-1. Farias stole third and
Steven Henriquez stroked a single center drive him in for the fourth and final run.
Joseph Guido,
Melvin Simmons and
Anthony Orsano registered multiple hits to pace Old Westbury.
Benjamin Farias drove in two runs and
Steven Henriquez had an RBI. Simmons and Farias each stole two bags.
Andre Murray, Danny O'Brien and Pete Green each singled to record the lone hits for Cobleskill.
Ryan Bresnahan surrendered just one run on three hits while walking four batters in five innings of mound work to pick up his first win.
Marvin Rosario earned his first save of the season with a hitless sixth and seventh inning in relief of Bresnahan.
Jason Biron took the loss for Cobleskill. Biron was tapped for three earned runs off 10 hits while striking out five.
In game two, Old Westbury scored one run in the first inning and never looked back en route to the win over Cobleskill. OW used an RBI single by

Benjamin Farias drew a walk to lead off the fifth inning and swept second and third base and scored on a passed ball. In the seventh, Farias led off with a singled and stole two more bags before
Anthony Fernandez clubbed a triple to score him from third. Two batters later,
Blake Barbeito singled to left to push across Fernandez for the final run.
Anthony Fernandez banged out the lone extra base hit of the game while five other Panthers singled.

Melvin Simmons and
Josef Schaetzle swept one.
Sean Rockefeller had multiple singles to lead Cobleskill in defeat.
Tyler Levine bulldogged his way to victory for OW, working a seven inning complete game shutout to notch his first career victory. He sat down seven Fighting Tigers on strikes while allowing seven hits and just one free pass.
Vince Spruill took the loss for Cobleskill, surrendering two earned runs on six hits and four walks. He also rang up six Panthers on strikes.
SUNYIT WILDCATS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the field for a non-conference battle with the SUNYIT Wildcats on Friday (Mar. 18) in Old Westbury, New York. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
