www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell on the road Thursday night to the Baruch Bearcats, losing 25-10, 25-12, 25-17 in non-conference road action. The loss snapped OW's five match win streak and moved to 6-3 on the season while Baruch improved to 6-4.
Seniors
Tonya Miller and
Ashley Greene led the Panthers with five kills apiece while
Kimberly Catania followed with four.
Kristina Giordano directed the offense with 16 assists. Giordano and Katania had seven and five digs, respectively, while
Tonya Miller registered 1.5 blocks.
Jessica Wu paced Baruch with a match-high 11 kills while Melinda Santiago and Megan Moody dished out 22 and 14 assists, respectively. Wu and Rebecca Peralta served up four aces apiece.
In the first set, the Panthers collected six kills with four attack errors and hit .105 as a team while Baruch hit. 520. For the match, Old Westbury hit .062 with 19 kills in 65 swings and Baruch had 43 kills in 88 swings to hit .341. Baruch outserved Old Westbury 13-3 in aces.
SKYLINE QUAD MATCH AT FARMINGDALE STATE UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a Skyline Conference Quad Match on the road in Farmingdale, New York on Sunday (Sept. 18). Old Westbury opens its conference slate with Mount Saint Vincent at 10 a.m. followed by Yeshiva at 1 p.m.
