(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com)  - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team collected two more victories, sweeping Yeshiva after outlasting Mount Saint Vincent in five sets, to open Skyline Conference play Sunday morning in Farmingdale, New York. Old Westbury improved to 8-3 on the season with the pair of wins.

In the morning match, Old Westbury held off Mount Saint Vincent to grind out the victory in five sets (25-18, 22-25, 26-24, 14-25, 15-12). Kristina Giordano paced Old Westbury to victory with a solid all around performance. Giordano finished with 28 assists, nine kills (season-high), seven aces and seven digs. Old Westbury registered a season-high 70 digs, led by Nancy Apollonio and Kimberly Catania, who both finished with 16 apiece. Old Westbury totaled a season-high 41 kills. Ashley Greene nailed down a season-best 11 kills, followed by Tynisha George's 10, who also added 14 digs. The numbers marked her first double-double of the season for George.

The Panthers were able to take down Yeshiva in straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-12). Ashley Greene tallied nine kills, eight digs and five aces to led Old Westbury's sweep over the Maccabees. On defense, Nancy Apollonio racked up a career-high 22 digs followed by Tynisha George's nine. At the net, Carlotta Pope had a total of four blocks, a career-high. Kristina Giordano sparked the OW offense with 26 assists, six kills and three aces. Old Westbury registered double-digit aces for the seventh time this season, finishing with 13 against Yeshiva.

NYU-POLY FIGHTING BLUE JAYS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a Skyline Conference road battle against NYU-Poly Fighting Blue Jays in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday (Sept. 21). First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from Jacobs Gymnasium.
