WILKES BARRE, PA (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com)  - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team allowed an early goal and went into the half down 1-0, but the King's Monarchs netted three goals in the opening 11 minutes of the second period and defeated the Panthers, 4-0, at McCarthy Stadium Tuesday evening.

King's broke the scoring ice in the 14th minute when Kevin Buchanan scored an unassisted goal that landed out of the reach of OW netminder Pablo Diaz for the eventual game-winner. Old Westbury settled down and went into half down by one goal. Old Westbury was outshot 11-1 in the first half, but was able to absorb the Monarch attack.

In the second half, King's stepped up its attack and scored three quick goals less than 11 minutes into the period. Joey Bender assisted on goals by Niall Croke (52:16) and Billy Elliott (55:04) and netted a goal of his own at 55:51 to close out the scoring on an assisted by Alex Martino.

The Panthers finished with one shot, compared to 23 by King's, of which 10 were on target. King's also held a 16-1 edge in corner kicks. Pablo Diaz finished the game with six saves in defeat for Old Westbury while Mark Labbadia, Brandon Raynor and Andrew O'Shura combined for the clean sheet.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a rematch of the 2010 Skyline Conference championship game at home as they entertain the Maritime Privateers on Saturday (Sept. 24) in Old Westbury, New York. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. from Panther Park.
