THROGGS NECK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team open the 2011 Skyline Conference schedule in impressive fashion, notching a 6-0 win over the Maritime Privateers, Friday night at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, New York. Old Westbury improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference action while Maritime dropped to 2-6-1 and 0-2, respectively. The six goals for the Panthers were their most since October 14, 2010 against Yeshiva.

Cassandra Esposito scored her ninth career hat trick to seal the victory for Old Westbury. Esposito got the Panthers on the board at 10:27, hitting a shot into the back right side of the net, the eventual game-winner. Esposito assisted on OW's next goal to Samantha Clancy, who scored her third goal of the season. Esposito sent OW into the break with a three goal cushion after closing out the first-half scoring with an unassisted breakaway tally at 42:10.

Kassandra Franco sent a laser past diving Maritime goalie Courtney Marietta in the 77th minute to give Old Westbury a 4-0 lead at the time. Franco's goal was her first career score. Esposito added her third score of the day in the 85th minute, giving Old Westbury a five goal lead with a blast into the lower right corner of the net. JoAnna Kettell rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the season at 89:22.

Caitlin Thomas was forced to make two save in net for Old Westbury, posting her first career shutout. Courtney Marietta stopped six shots in defeat for Maritime. Old Westbury held a 23-6 shot advantage, including 12-2 on target. Old Westbury also held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. 

KING'S LIONS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on the road, taking on the King's Lions on Monday (Sept. 26) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. from McCarthy Stadium.
