www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team earned its first non-conference victory of the season with a 2-1 triumph against the visiting York Cardinals on Monday in Old Westbury, New York. Sophomore
Scott Carey scored what proved to be the eventual game-winner in the 65th minute as the Panthers improved to 2-7 while the Cardinals fell to 1-10.
Old Westbury struck first in the 56th minute when
German Parodis broke the scoring ice on a penalty kick to give OW a one goal advantage. Moments later,
Scott Carey sent a pass from
Steven Burgos into the back of the net past York goalie Qudus Kassim. Carey's goal proved to be the game-winner. Wilkerson C. Jean Jacques brought York within one when he put the Cardinals on the board in the 68th minute with the score as McLaney Moise assisted on the goal.
Old Westbury's
Pablo Diaz tied a career-high with eight saves, while Qudus Kassim stopped 12 shots for York in defeat. Old Westbury outshot York, 32-29, including 14-9 advantage on target. OW finished with a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
