WILKES BARRE, PA (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team gave up two goals in each half of a 4-0 loss to the King's Monarchs on Monday evening from McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. The loss moved Old Westbury to 2-4 on the season while King's improves to 2-5.
Samantha Beadle opened the scoring in the ninth minute on an unassisted goal to put King's up, 1-0. Just 2:38 later, the Monarchs struck again with Beadle second unassisted goal of the game. Megan Inama made it 3-0 with a shot into the upper left corner of the net in the 55th minute as Molly Spokol assisted on the goal. Just under seven minutes later, Brianne Schmidt tapped in a rebound off the post to close out the scoring with her fifth goal of the season.
Caitlin Thomas made three saves in defeat for Old Westbury. Lauren Duguid made two stops in net for King's, registering her second clean sheet of the season. King's outshot Old Westbury, 9-7, including 7-2 on target. Freshman
Stephanie Maybie led the Panthers with three shots, while
Cassandra Esposito and
Samantha Clancy each registered a shot on target. Both teams registered four corner kicks each.
NYU-POLY FIGHTING BLUE JAYS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a Skyline Conference battle on the road, taking on the NYU-Poly Fighting Blue Jays on Wednesday (Sept. 28) in Brooklyn, New York. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. from Floyd Bennett Field.
