www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell in four sets (15-25, 11-25, 25-20, 8-25) against the visiting United States Merchant Marine Academy Marines on Wednesday evening from the Clark Athletic Center. The loss moves Old Westbury to 7-18 on the season while the Mariners improved to 11-10.
Kimberly Catania sparked the Old Westbury offense, combining 24 assists and 17 digs to register her 18th double-double of the season.
Jennifer Jean followed with 10 kills and 19 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Allie Giancola scooped up a team-high 27 digs while
Courtney Gallagher and
Samantha Howley each added 16. Caitlin McCabe led the Mariners with 13 kills followed by Cassandra Palma's 12. Riley Huelbig's match-high 34 assists directed the Mariners'offense while Michelle Danhof led the way for the defense with 31 digs (match-high).
In the end, USMMA outhit Old Westbury, .188 to -.013, while holding the advantage in kills (41-27), assists (36-27), aces (16-2) and blocks (4-2).
FDU-FLORHAM DEVILS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court against the FDU-Florham Devils on Saturday (Oct. 13) in Madison, New Jersey. First-serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. from the Ferguson Recreation Center.
