Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –   The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team lost a hard fought 2-1 Skyline Conference battle Thursday afternoon in overtime to the visiting St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles on Senior Day at Panther Park.  The loss dropped Old Westbury (3-14) to 2-5 in Skyline Conference competition while St. Joseph's-L.I. (9-1) climbed to 7-1.  Prior to kick-off, seniors Steven Burgos and Pablo Diaz were honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics with a Senior Day Ceremony.

Steven Burgos assisted fellow Floral Park native Jon Kerby in the seventh minute to put Old Westbury up early.  Burgos' cross was headed into the back of the net for Kerby's third goal of the season.  The assist by Burgos was his second of the season.

The Golden Eagles outshot Old Westbury in the first-half (10-6) and delivered the equalizer in the 42nd minute when John Dettori collected a pass from Gaetano Innamorato, knotting the game at one all heading into the half.

In the second half, Old Westbury's offense hit a wall as St. Joseph's-L.I. held Old Westbury without a shot for the remainder of the game.  In the 62nd minute, Old Westbury's Bryan Bolivar picked up his second yellow card of the game, causing the Panthers to play a man down the rest of the way.  After no goals in the final 28 minutes of play, the two squads entered into overtime.  The Panthers have played in three overtime game this season, with both the SUNY Potsdam and NYU-Poly games ending in defeat.

At the 96:33 mark, Gaetano Innamorato delivered the game-winner for the Golden Eagles.  Innamorato received a pass from Fabio Alves and placed the ball into the back of the net to give St. Joseph's-L.I. a 2-1 overtime win.

St. Joseph's-L.I. held the advantage in shots (27-6), shots on goal (10-4) and corner kicks (12-1).  Old Westbury was held without a shot for the second half and overtime periods as St. Joseph's-L.I. rattled off 17 shots over that time.

Old Westbury keeper Marcelo Guardado finished with eight saves, bringing his season total to 69.  Chris Muhs was victorious in goal for the Golden Eagles, recording three saves.
