Score For The Cure Flyer
OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team will host Skyline Conference foe Maritime Privateers on Saturday, October 13 for the Third Annual “Score for the Cure” Breast Cancer Awareness Match. Old Westbury will team with 1-in-9: The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition for the third consecutive year.
The events planned for the day include a 1-in-9 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, followed by a conference showdown with Maritime at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
Prior to kick-off at 10:30 a.m., players and fans are welcome to join in on the annual 1-in-9 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk around Panther Park. A total of 9-laps will be required around the field. One in nine women are affected by breast cancer and all participants will be asked to walk anywhere from one to nine laps around the field.
Any and all donations will be appreciated and given to the 1-in-9 Breast Cancer Foundation. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted throughout the walk and continue during the match. All checks need to be made payable to: Old Westbury College Foundation.
The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition has been committed to fighting the cancer epidemic through education, outreach, environmental advocacy, spearheading changes to legislation affecting cancer issues, and continuously raising money to support innovative epidemiological cancer research projects at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
