www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision Saturday afternoon to the Alfred Saxons in the consolation match at the Oswego State Tournament from Laker Soccer Field. Old Westbury now stands at 0-2 to open the season while Alfred improved to 1-1.

Marcelo Guardado at the 15:29 mark to score the game-winning goal. 24 seconds later, Jeffery Thomas doubled Alfred's advantage to make it a 2-0 game. Alfred outshot Old Westbury 11-3 in the first-half, taking a 2-0 lead into the half. Old Westbury settled down in the second-half, but were still outshot 7-5.
Scott Carey paced Old Westbury's offense with five shots, three of which were on target.
Marcelo Guardado stopped a career-high nine saves and was named to the All-Oswego State Tournament Team for his efforts. Alfred's William Badger (2 saves) and Matthew Unick (1 save) combined for the shutout.
MANHATTANVILLE VALIANTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on the road Wednesday afternoon, taking on the Manhattanville Valiants in Purchase, New York. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. from GoValiants.com Field.
