MONTCLAIR STATE ROLLS TO 7-0 WIN OVER WOMEN’S SOCCER

MONTCLAIR, NJ (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –   Shawna Grabowski had three goals and an assist as the Montclair State Red Hawks defeated the SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team 8-0 on Friday evening at Pittser Field in Montclair, New Jersey.  With the loss, Old Westbury's record now stands at 1-4 on the season while Montclair State improves to 6-0-1.

The Red Hawks got on the board in the 34th minute when Martina Landeka broke the scoring ice for the lone goal in the opening half.  Old Westbury goalie Caitlin Thomas made six first-half saves as Old Westbury allowed 19 first-half shots. 

Shawna Grabowski doubled the Red Hawk lead at the 49:59 mark, tallying her first of three goals on the day.  Stefanie Gomes (51:51), Jessica Kiniery (67:33) and Catherine Zysk (75:16) added second-half goals for Montclair State.

Montclair State finished with a 29-0 edge in shots, landing 15 on target.  Old Westbury goalie Caitlin Thomas matched a career-high with eight saves.  Gina Policastro and Amanda Vietri combined for the Montclair State shutout.

NYU BOBCATS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on Sunday afternoon, taking on the NYU Bobcats in Old Westbury, New York.  Kick-off is slated for 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
