MEN’S SOCCER DROPS NON-CONFERENCE MATCH AT MANHATTANVILLE

Old Westbury set to host Potsdam for home opener on Saturday at 12 p.m.

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team allowed two goals in the first half and then five in the second en route to a 7-0 defeat on the road against the Manhattanville Valiants Wednesday afternoon from GoValiants.com Field.  With the setback to the Valiants, the Panthers dropped to 0-3 for the season, while Manhattanville improved to 2-1.   

The Valiants registered 24 shots in the contest, posting 13 shots on goal.  Old Westbury tallied five shots, including Kosi Ikwuazom's shot in the 87th minute, which was the Panthers' lone shot on goal.  Old Westbury keeper Peter Sicardi made his collegiate debut, stopping six saves in the contest.

Marco Blasetti had netted a pair of goals, drawing first blood with a goal in the 27th minute. Eros Olazabal racked up a hat-trick, with a trio of goals in the second half.  
  
POTSDAM BEARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on Saturday afternoon in a home opener, taking on the Potsdam Bears in Old Westbury, New York.  Kick-off is slated for 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
