www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The New Jersey City Gothic Knights won eight of the first 10 points in the decisive fifth set to slip past the SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team, 3-2, at John J. Moore Athletics Center on Wednesday night.
New Jersey City won by set scores of 25-15, 11-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Panthers dropped to 1-3 overall.
Kimberly Catania dished out a career-high 29 assists to go with 13 digs to post her third straight double-double.
Jocelyn Small and
Jennifer Jean both sparked the offense with 16 and 11 kills, respectively, while
Courtney Gallagher served up seven aces followed by Jean's five. Jean registered her first career double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs.
The Panthers had 60 digs and were out-hit by the Gothic Knights, .124 to .023. OW had a season best 19 aces, compared to NJCU's 13.
