OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –   The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the Panther Invitational sponsored by ECONO LODGE by Choice Hotels on Saturday in Old Westbury, New York.  Old Westbury opened with a disappointing three set loss to Montclair State, 25-15, 25,15, 25-22, and wrapped up play with a convincing straight set  sweep (25-20, 25-14, 27-25) over Manhattanville.  Old Westbury now stands at 2-4 heading into tomorrow's matchups with Ramapo (10 a.m.) and Bridgewater State (2 p.m.).

In the opener against Montclair State, Jennifer Jean led the squad with six kills, three aces and 13 digs.  Kimberly Catania followed with 10 assists and eight digs while Allie Giancola added eight digs.  Montclair State was led by Courtney LePore's eiht kills, Angela Campo's four assist, Alyssa Batiste's four aces and Elise Brackett's 16 digs. Montclair State outhit Old Westbury, .247 to .064.   

Against Manhattanville, Kimberly Catania posted her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 25 assists and 15 digs to go along with seven kills and four aces.  Allie Giancola led the defense with 22 digs while serving up a career-best five aces.  Jennifer Jean and Jocelyn Small registered nine and eight kills, respectively.  Jocelyn Small tallied a match-high three blocks.  Manhattanville was led by Susy Camaj's 10 kills and six aces, Veronica Ferreiras' 11 assists and Alyssa Casino's 20 digs.  Manhattanville outhit Old Westbury, .271 to .165.      

DAY TWO OF PANTHER VOLLEYBALL INVITATIONAL SPONSORED BY ECONO LODGE BY CHOICE HOTELS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to the court for day two of the Panther Volleyball Invitational sponsored by ECONO LODGE by Choice Hotels on Sunday (Sept. 9) in Old Westbury, New York.  Old Westbury takes on Ramapo at 10 a.m. followed by Bridgewater State at 2 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.
