@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer Sets Program Wins Mark After 9-0 Victory Over NYU-Poly

JoAnna Kettell registered three goals and four assists to set a single season program record for goals scored

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team broke the school's single-season wins record after defeating the NYU-Poly Fighting Jays, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon from a rainy Panther Park. With the win, the Panthers improve to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the Skyline Conference while sending the Fighting Jays to 4-12 on the season and in conference play.
The Panthers did not waste any time getting on the board.  Just 8:52 into the match, Kettell launched a shot past NYU-Poly goalkeeper Molly Bartz into the back of the net to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.  The game-winner was Kettell's sixth of her career game.  Kettell also closed out the scoring with goals in the 64th and 68th minute to record her fourth career hat-trick to go along with a career-best four assists on the day.

Stephanie Maybie joined in on the scoring frenzy with her fourth-career hat-trick with goals in the 14th, 16th and 63rd minutes while assisting on Kettell's goal in the 64th minute.

Also contributing to the nine goals were Jenna Donahue, (11th minute), Jasmine Kerby (21st minute) and Nicole Hallahan (34th minute).

On the helping side, Kassandra Franco assisted on Kerby's fourth goal of the season while Cristina Kettell racked up a career-high two assists on the day.  Kettell set up Maybie in the 64th minute for her 17th goal of the season and in the 68th minute assisted on a goal by JoAnna Kettell to set the program record for goals in a season at 20.  It was Maybie who previously held the record with 19 goals in 2012.

In the end, Old Westbury held a 23-1 edge in shots (12-0 on target) and corner kicks (3-0).  Old Westbury keeper Caitlin Thomas finished the match without a save and to record her sixth shutout of the season (14th career).  Already Old Westbury's all-time shutout leader, Thomas' six clean sheets on the season tied the single season program record set by Chynna Pitlock's in 2010.  Thomas' counterpart, Bartz finished with three saves in defeat for NYU-Poly.
