@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer Rebounds with 3-1 Skyline Win at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team cracked open a win Friday evening by brushing off the Maritime Privateers, 3-1, from Reinhart Field to pick up its third Skyline Conference win of the season.  The win improves Old Westbury (7-4) to 3-1 in conference play while sending the Privateers (8-5) to 2-2.  

The Panthers got on the board in the 29th minute as JoAnna Kettell slipped her second assist of the season to Jenna Donahue, who finished with a shot past Privateers keeper Kristen Hoar for her first goal of the game.  Edania Martinez scored the eventual game-winner by doubling Old Westbury's advantage in the 43rd minute.  The game-winner was Martinez's second of the season.   

Jorrie Trenkamp sliced the Privateer deficit in half in the 65th minute when she received a falling pass from Marissa Athan for her conference leading 20th goal of the season.  Donahue put the Panthers up two by adding her third goal of the season in the 77th minute off a Jasmine Kerby assist to give Old Westbury a 3-1 final. 

Panthers goalkeeper Caitlin Thomas made two saves on the day as Old Westbury owned a 27-9 advantage in shots, 13-3 in shots on target and 7-1 in corner kicks.  Hoar finished with 10 saves for Maritime. 

NYU VIOLETS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the pitch for a non-conference showdown with the NYU Violets on Monday Friday (Oct. 7) in Riverdale, New York. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. from Gaelic Field.
